Blogging two series in one night is definitely not my style. However, I like to blog right after I watch the episode and the fact remains that even though Nabari airs two days before Macross Frontier does, the subs for Nabari come out around the same time as the MF subs. (I’m not going to harp on how fast subs come out, because I say my thanks that there even are fansubbers.)
I’ll try to keep this post short, but to say it straightforwardly, I’m disappointed. Partly because after seeing such a good episode of Macross, I have to see such a bad episode of Nabari. Nabari no Ou started off with a blast, but lately it’s becoming slow, and needless to say, boring. For the last few episodes everything seems to be at a standstill. Please don’t take my criticisms hard if you’re a die-hard Nabari fan, because in the end, I’ll still love Nabari. Just right now, the direction Nabari is taking makes me give my cynical reasons…
Who are the primary antagonists?
This episode introduces nothing new, except for Miharu joining Kairoushuu. You may say that this is a big
twist, but now that makes me ask: who are the real antagonists? Doesn’t this make Kairoushuu nothing more than an ally? And in my opinion, if there aren’t any antagonists, there isn’t a point to this story anymore. Or could the real antagonists be the Banten ninjas? Kumohira did say that he would do everything in his power to stop Miharu from using the Shinrabanshou… Regardless of who the bad guys are, they need to show up soon.
Why are some of the characters becoming depressing to watch?
Poor Miharu. The reason why he cuts himself off from others is because he seems to think that everything is his fault. Because of his existence, the Shimizu clan fell to pieces, Gau got hurt, Kumohira-sensei has blah blah blah. I’m sorry Miharu, I must have zoned out. I can’t relate to you, but dear God, do me a favor and understand that no one is blaming you for this. It’s not like you chose to have the Shinrabanshou. And if you have such a hard time coming to terms with this – IF, to the point that you just downright hate yourself for troubling others, you could just end all their pain by killing yourself. (Please note that I’m not trying to piss off Miharu fans, just lately he’s been a little annoying.)
But oh dear, you didn’t think I was going to leave out Yoite, did you? Yoite does earn more sympathy from me than Miharu does, partly because he knows he’s going to die soon. Seeing Yoite cry hurts a little, because he always emphasizes the fact that he has no emotions whatsoever. But the truth is he does. He wants to be loved, and then again he doesn’t want to be loved. This is because he doesn’t know how to act towards those who care for him. And he keeps denying the fact that others care, telling Miharu that Miharu’s only using the Shinrabanshou to save his friends and that in reality, he doesn’t really care about Yoite. Well, he’s been doing this for a couple of episodes now. NEWS FLASH, my dear Yoite: Miharu loves you and wants to have amazing buttsecks with you, so stop denying his love alright?! … (Picture the imageeeeee~ LOL)
And my favorite character too, gets subjected to harsh criticism. Bravo, Kumohira-sensei. You finally realize the what-I-call “wishy washy” and hypocritical attitude you been exerting for the last few episodes. Now, here is my advice: DO something to CHANGE that. Because yes, a ninja who cannot kill cannot stop Miharu from using the Shinrabanshou. It’s not that I want Miharu to be killed, but the fact that you’re so weak as you are right now…
Oh and Raikou? Never ever let me see you behind the wheel again. You suck at driving.
What are the leaders doing?
Hattori-san and Fuuma-dono. Here you’ve got two leaders who’ve taken on the attitude of, “Oh, let’s see how the characters in this game play themselves out. I’ll just sit back and let them do what they want, everything is going to eventually be how I’ve planned it anyway.” Oh GOD. If you two just got off your butts and actually helped with everything, maybe the boring plot might have been spectacular by now. Heck, I understand that for 26 episodes you probably have to stretch the plot thin, but you’re boring me out. Like I’ve talked about Kumohira-sensei: Do something instead of popping up here and there every few episodes.
Other Misc. Thoughts
I’m done with my rant. Be at peace. Thanks for reading. :]
On another note, I just noticed this totally random parallelism between one of the scenes in this episode and one in the ending. Notice the same structure of Yoite and Miharu in both pictures? Yeahhhhhh. Okay, totally random.
And for my co-worker and friend, Sakura. Because I promised her a picture. (And I felt the one above wasn’t as good as this one. Then again, Kumohira staring intensely is slightly disturbing. O_o)

Good review, you caught a lot of my thoughts on this one too. While I liked this episode and everything, it really ran a bulldozer over some of the plot elements that were presented earlier in this series. And I’m especially surprised at how quickly the Banten ninjas have been… well, broken up. They just don’t feel like a team anymore, nor did they hardly have any time to get to be one. Hmmh.
Thanks JJ. Yep, I totally agree with everything you’ve said. Hopefully the series will become better.
Awesome, awesome review.
“Miharu loves you and wants to have amazing buttsecks with you, so stop denying his love alright?! ”
That line was downright hilarious and I’m sure in some fanfictions they are doing just that!
Ahh, they all need a good smacking to wake themselves up right now. You guys are supposed to be ninjas! So go KICK ASS instead of standing around being emo.
We have Sasuke-baka for that…
And YAY!!!!!! Hoshi you are awesome pictures of Smexy Sensei make me happy ^-^
Thanks Sakura!! :]]
LOL. Yep, the fanfics are prolly all about that right now (’-___-)
O__O I was actually thinking the same thing when I was writing this… the whole they’re going emo like Sasuke..
