Naruto Chapter 406-The Key To The Future

Forgive me for the crappy post, its been a long week and my energy is waning. Considering all that is going on, there isn’t actually a lot happening in this week’s Naruto. Nothing exciting at any rate, but we do get another whole chapter concerning our main character. No Uchiha’s this week so rejoice everyone!

The frog contains one of Pein’s bodies and its left to Shizune and two other medics on duty to take it apart and figure it out.

Frog-Sage, tells Tsunade and Naruto that Jiraiya could have escaped if he’d wanted, but he stayed to be able to leave them the code.

The code breakers tell Shikamaru that the code isn’t one used by Konohagakure and that it doesn’t conform to any known algorithms, so without the key they won’t be able to decode it. They suggest he talk to people who knew Jirayia since they might be able to tell him what the key is.

Hehe and it looks like the female decoder Shiho may like Shikamaru, if her checking out her hair in the mirror is anything to go by. That’s probably going to set fanfic writers into a frenzy.

Shikamaru decides to start with Kakashi, who remembers that Jiraiya had at one time said 106cm. That number is of course one of the code numbers, but it appears Kakashi doesn’t know why he said it. However, it’s made pretty clear to us in one of the panels that Jiraiya was referring to Tsunade’s bust size! He was a pervert right to the very end I guess.

So now you guys finally know her measurements!

Not being of much help Kakashi tells Shikamaru to ask Tsunade or Naruto.
He says not just because of the code though, but because he is worried about Naruto. I had to wonder at this, if Kakashi is that worried, considering he’s sort of Naruto’s sensei, or at least was his sensei at one point. Why isn’t Kakashi checking up on him?

Shikamaru head on over to see Naruto, who is pretty spaced out, so Shikamaru takes him to see the very pregnant Kurenai and we get a nice little moment with Naruto saying her belly looks bigger than Choji’s.

Kurenai tells Shika to stop coming by every day but he replies that he can’t, because Asuma asked him to. Walking off, Shikamaru tells Naruto that Kurenai’s child will be his apprentice, Asuma entrusted him with it.

He says that he heard about Jiraiya and knows how Naruto feels; after all, he lost his mentor too. He goes on to tell Naruto that he won’t get anywhere by just dicking around and that his master entrusted him with a lot. Big things, small things, he says that its time for them to stop being the entrusted and instead be the ones who entrust.

He tells Naruto that someday he’ll be Master Naruto, and he’ll be the one to treat others to Ramen. Shika says that they can’t stay kids forever and he wants to be as cool as Asuma and Jiraiya.

Holding up the picture of the code, his final words to Naruto are you’ve got to get a hold of yourself you’ve got things to do!

So next week Naruto will probably solve the puzzle, or at least some one will. And hopefully next week there’ll be some Naruto and Sakura interaction.

I like Shikamaru, and yea he’s a buddy of Naruto’s but seriously, why isn’t Kakashi, Tsunade or better still his teammate Sakura helping Naruto through his grief over Jiraiya?
