Chapter 435 – Bansho Tenin
So Naruto isn’t as down and out as he appears to be since being restrained by Pain actually plays right into the crafty fox ninja’s plans as Chikadou soon finds out.
Wow I think the frog look is actually an improvement on this body!
As boring as the ‘Sage Training’ was if you were paying attention, you may remember Fukasaku telling Naruto that Natural Energy is difficult to control. Chikadou absorbs too much of Naruto’s Chakra and ends up being turned into a frog statue XD Hahahahaha take that Pain, he took out one of your bodies without even having to move!
Naruto bursts free of Chikadou ready to confront Tendou (the Pain body with Yahiko’s form) declaring that he is the last one. Though Tendou tells him that isn’t quite right.
Naruto thinks to himself that there is someone else in the shadows controlling these puppets, just as Fukasaku and Ma decide to unleash their genjutsu.
Pain catches dinner, he has a fondness for frogs legs.
However Tendou tells them he’s had enough of their illusions and uses his Bansho Tenin to pull Fukasaku towards him and impales him, saying that he was a worthy opponent.
That’s right, I watch you, even when you pee!
Naruto rushes at Tendou, only to have the Bansho Tenin turned onto him and gets startled by the Rinengan. Tendou slams Naruto to the ground, impaling him to it through both hands, asking Naruto if he intends to come along quietly as he does so.
Pain likes a captive audience.
Naruto again demands to know why Tendou is doing this and he replies that everything happens suddenly, with the reasons only becoming clear later. Now that Naruto is immobilized Pain says they can talk.
The big guy is alive, this will upset Pain, Gama would have provided him with food for months.
Gamabunta is in pain but looks alive, the rest of the Toads are all down and out so they won’t be any help.
Well at least she won’t have to deal with Tsunade’s drinking anymore.
We get confirmation that Shizune is dead and Shikmaru says they need to figure everything out so her death wasn’t in vain. He tells everyone to use Katsuyu to gather information from anyone who had contact with Pain.
What is a haircut?
He tells them that they have to be thorough, and so they should even bring the corpses. This phrase strikes a chord with Ino’s father, who loudly exclaims that he’s “got it!”.
Pain is so serious, he even DDR’s in the rain.
Chapter 436 – Peace.
Inoichi remembers back when they interrogated the Ame nin, how they saw bodies being transported to a large tall tower. He theorizes that the tower must have been a laboratory in which the chakra transmitters were implanted into the body.
The real body would also have to be close to the puppet bodies in order for them to receive a signal from the one sending the chakra. So over long distances the tower would be the perfect location for Pain’s real body to transmit. So Shikamaru gives out the order for everyone to check surrounding high areas.
And by peace I mean I’ll blow a lot of crap up. Because we all know that means peace.
Back with Naruto, Pain (Tendou form) is having his chat with the blond ninja. He tells him that is goal is something even Jiraiya couldn’t achieve, “Justice through peace”.
Naruto is stuck on Pain’s every word.
Naruto asks how he can say that, when he’s destroyed his village, his master and his friends. Pain asks Naruto what it is he wants and Naruto says he wants to defeat Pain and bring peace to the world of ninjas.
Pain tells him that is wonderful, it is justice, but what of his village, his friends, his family. They were all destroyed too, he asks if Konoha is the only one allowed to talk about peace and justice.
“WAR da da da da da da, HAW! WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!”
He tells Naruto that the land of fire and Konoha have become too big. His country being surrounded by the other ninja villages, was always a battleground when the great villages fought each other. Leaving his home destroyed and the people impoverished.
Eventually of course, the great nations stabilized, however his country was left to bear the wounds of war.
He tells Naruto that they are the same, he has meted out a punishment on Konoha, exactly like Naruto is trying to do to him. He says they both want the peace Jiraiya spoke of and that they both know the pain of loss, everyone feels it the same.
Tendou says they are both working for justice, but that if revenge is called justice it just breeds more revenge and becomes a chain of hatred. He says they cannot help but know people will never be able to understand each other and that the ninja world is ruled by hatred.
“Memories, misty, water coloured memories, of the way we were”
Naruto remembers back to when Jiraiya had told him that even he could see the hatred was spreading and how Naruto promised his master to find answer if Jiraiya was unable to.
Naruto isn’t good at gameshows.
Tendou asks Naruto how he would face this hatred to bring peace and Naruto’s answer is that he doesn’t know. Tendou tells him that he can do it, since he created Akatsuki for the purpose of breaking the chain of hatred. Using the power of the tailed beasts, he will build a weapon that can destroy an entire land.
With that, he says the world will know true pain and fear of that pain will bring and end to war, which will lead the world to stability and peace.
“WTF?! Its okay Naruto we feel the same way.
Naruto tells him that wouldn’t be real peace, it would be nothing but a lie. But Tendou tells him that people are stupid and if he doesn’t do it there will be no peace.
Nagato revealed!
He says eventually time would pass, things would heal and fights would start again. As he speaks we get to see Pain’s real body (Nagato) from his hidden location, speaking with Konan by his side.
Give the dude a burger!
He says the the weapon would get used again, bringing another period of peace. Which would give birth to short periods of peace within the endless chain of hatred, which he tells Naruto is his wish.
Someone needs an eye exam STAT!
Nagato’s emaciated form begins to cough, and blood leaks from his mouth. Konan tells him not to overdo it, because he’s used too much chakra, but he says, he can see peace…
So what will Naruto do now is the next question? Can he work that Naruto magic and talk Pain around? The only alternative is that even if he partially agrees with what Pain is saying, he will have to destroy him to protect his village (well the rubble that was his village) and those he loves.
So really, Pain’s big chat is nothing but a long winded justification for genocide and a stupid one at that. Everything he throws at Naruto, Naruto can just throw back at him and vice versa. Why is Pain the only one who can talk about peace and justice? Because he thinks he has a solution? Well what a crappy solution. Oh I’ll just kill a bunch of people and that will stop war for a while.
He even admits his plan is flawed, since it won’t deter fighting forever and the weapon will just have to be used again and again to keep promoting peace once people forget.
Why is it okay for him to force his view on the rest of the world?
Why should the innocents of Konoha have to suffer for his peace?
Why is his way the only way?
Sure there are always going to be people you can’t reason with, but look at Konoha and Suna, they were able to set their differences aside.
People are stupid, they are always going to be stupid no matter what you do, killing a whole bunch of innocent people isn’t going to change that. Pain even admits that himself, so really at the end of the day he’ll be murdering people for nothing.
So create Akatsuki, create them as a defense force for you land, protect your land if it gets invaded again. Create ties with other villages, make yourself some powerful allies.
But going around and just killing everyone? What is the point in that if by your own words it doesn’t change a damn thing?
I know one thing though, even though it looks like Naruto is at Pain’s mercy, don’t count him just yet.
Oh he’ll need more than a burger. Somebody get out 2 baskets of poutine and 5 tubs of haagen dazs, STAT!
Anyway, I’m sure that Naruto can talk some sense into that guy, or get him a shirt, or a bowl of ramen, or some frog legs lol (ahh… I miss frog legs… You can’t get decent ones in Canada, and I haven’t had any for almost a year)!

His kind of peace is when there’s nobody there – no humans nor frogs.
@ Choux, There’s a restaurant, fairly close to me that has frog legs on the menu. Yeah I think it will take more than a burger to put some meat on Nagato’s bones.
