So the next manga in my list of current reads is wait for it, not a shoujo title but a shounen title. As I stated previously I have a love for anything involving mythological creatures, so Nurarihyon no Mago grabbed my interest quickly.
Rikuo is 3/4 human and 1/4 youkai and looks like a normal school kid, except that he has another form he can take when there is impending danger, that of his night form. His night form is destined to become the next Master of Youkai, a position his grandfather holds.
But first Rikuo has to accept his youkai nature, because he had at some point rejected wanting to embrace it, not liking how they behaved and instead concentrated on living as a normal human.
Poor kid has a hard life. Trying to keep his youkai fascinated school buddies out of trouble with the youkai. Trying to get those not from his clan to accept him as Master once he decides he wants to embrace his heritage.
Its not easy being Rikuo and its definitely cool to get to see the many different youkai that surround him both as allies and enemies. I love a good story about something paranormal, so this manga is a real treat for me.

That’s got to be one of the biggest disparities in art within the same series I’ve ever seen…
Well yeah, you seriously couldn’t confuse Rikuo’s human form with his youkai form at all XD
