Archive for the ‘Summer of VNs’ Category

Technically, summer vacation has started for me. So, unless my summer courses kill me or something, I should be able to post on a more regular basis, maybe even… *gasp, blog anime….

Aster is the latest game released by Rusk, a company which, since then, seems to have disappeared off the radar. Which is rather unfortunate, since Aster isn’t bad at all.

Premise (stolen from VNDB, as always):

Aster tells the story of four young men, which lives are connected by one incident.

It all begins with Hiro Sakaki. He is a high school student, and enjoys his life with his old friends, Saki and Saya, twin sisters.
Under the summer sun, their relationships change little by little… “There is no miracle but hope…”. (more…)

Please?

I really want to read Kirakira, but the reason that I haven’t read it, actually, one of the main reasons that I have read NONE of mangagamer’s games, is this.

ugh

The text is horrible. I’m not saying that the font is ugly (of course, it obviously is), but that the font is simply too thin and can’t be read properly. In order to read with relative comfort, there is a need to darken the text box. That’s fine in games like Shuffle, but not for Kirakira, which uses the entire screen. This is a visual novel, the VISUAL part is important!

good

Now, notice Fate/Hollow Antaraxia. The text box of the two games are around the same in terms of darkness, but F/HA uses larger words with a thicker font and a border, which makes it amazingly easier to read. Can Kirakira use a bigger font? Yes, it’s not like there’s no room. Can they use a different font? Yes, it’s EASY. Hey, if Shuffle can have a font hack, why can’t Kirakira? Please, someone, help me with getting a font patch? Please?

もしも明日が晴れならば, if it’s clear weather tomorrow, is an eroge made by Palette in 2006. And it’s not just an eroge, it’s a nakige.

10 years ago, Hatoba Kazuki’s mother died, his father adopted 2 of his cousins who had lost their parents. The 3 of them bonded instantly, and Kazuki began to fall in love with his older adoptive sister, Akiho. After his other sister, Tsubasa, gave him a good push on the back, he finally worked up the courage to confess to her, but it wasn’t to be, as Akiho died in a sudden illness a few short days later.

But just what will happen, as Kazuki discovers that Akiho had come back as a ghost that no one else can see? (more…)

I finished Minori’s 3 endings. It’s was okay. I was surprised at how much I like the art (though it PALES next to Moshiraba), the music isn’t bad (slighter better than Tsukihime, maybe?), and the story’s average (I feel no attachment to the characters, but I wasn’t bored). I might go through the other stories if I can’t get over my artist’s block.

The story: Boy confesses to girl. Girl dies, comes back as a ghost, then goes to heaven and reincarnates. 10 years later the lovers meet again. The boy is now 28, the girl is now 9. They promise to be together again.

Me: What hell! What kind of freaky epilogue is that? Ugh, Palette really needs to work on their epilogues. None of them are that good and this one is the worst.

Moshiraba: Tamami

spirit

“I hate spirits. Because they always disappear. I also hate the living. Because, sooner or later, they will also disappear.”

Tamami is an exorcist (or ghost cutter, to use the game’s terms), a miko, a tsundere, a kouhai who’s good at cooking, and the girl who hates you because your sister’s in love with you and she’s in love with Tsubasa, your sister. Now that’s not something you see everyday. (more…)
