Umineko no naku koro ni Ep 1 part 1 (re-done)

Just like the title says, a short summary of Umineko no naku koro ni ep 1. Read at your own risk. There’s a screen shot for every chapter.

I realized that my old post was completely useless in terms of anything and so I re-did it.

We are introduced to Kinzo, a man of great wealth. However, his health is failing, and his long time friend and doctor, Terumasa, advises him to write a will. Kinzo refuses, saying that he does not want to leave his money in the hands of those people, that his soul will be eaten as soon as he is dead, and that the only thing he wants to do is to see the smile of Beatrice. Shouting in fury, he takes off his ring and throws it out of his study window.

Chapter 1

We are shown our main character, Battler, as he prepares to join his large family in the annual family meeting. Ginzo’s 4 children, their spouses (besides the youngest daughter who has a daughter but no husband), and their children are introduced. A more complete list can be found here. The family meeting is on an island, but when he gets on the boat, we discover that Battler has a great fear of boats. On the boat, Maria (the 0 year old daughter of the youngest child) ominously talks about how something is missing and that something bad is going to happen.

Chapter 2

When our main characters reach the manor, they are greeted by the sight of a beautiful garden. However, Maria notices a wilted rose in the midst of all the blooming flowers and feels bad for it. A mark was put on the rose so that she can find it later.

While the younger people leave, the adults have a conversation where it is shown that they have a lot of tension and suspense between each other as they all want the family fortune.

  1. In the post, is there a typo for Maria’s age because you put 0 year old daughter but I thought she was nine ^-^

Besides that, very interesting! I read some of the manga but I’m interested in the game more, thank you for translating 🙂
