kay, there are many things that I wanted to write about but couldn’t due to the goverment ban, so I’m catching up. The first thing is megatokyo.
When I first heard of this, I went to the site and thought, “hmm… american web comic…..released 1 page at a time, 3 times a week….the art looks werid.” And then I left the site. The later, by pure chance and boredom, I came across it again, read it all, and fell in love with the story.
Basically, 2 guys, Piro and Largo, went to Japan and stuff happens, I say that because simply too much happened and the plot is so all over the place it’s practically non-existent. We have zombies, robots, rent-a-zillas, suspicious clubs, highschool, magic girls, idols, ninjas, a computer made with cereal, a hamster with wings, misunderstandings, hilarious jokes, and oodles of romance. And the whole thing makes sense! The huge cast of characters are really well developed by this time (the 10th chapter had just begun), especially the romances that had developed over a long period of time. The things that happen seem to be really ridiculous, but they all serve to develop the characters, changing them, and their relationship with eath other. But, because of the huge cast, there are multiple stories going around at once and it takes a long time for a certain event to resolve itself. Chapter 9 ended with a huge cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next page to come out.
While the art isn’t the best in the world, we really see the artist’s style evolve over the years, and the later art is quite pleasing to the eyes.
I really recommend this story to anyone who has a sense of humour and/or likes overly complex plots, long romances, and a really good story.
