Half a million hits, Whoot~

Sakura: Please excuse the hastily scribbled thank you at the top of the picture, its hard to get hirigana to look right when you’re using a mouse πŸ™‚

Anyway, Choux noticed that we’d gotten over half a million hits and we both thought that we owed you all a massive thank you for helping us reach such a momentous milestone.

The post is a little bit late in coming, but thank you everybody!

The site has certainly seen many changes since it first hit the blogosphere. We’ve had many awesome layouts and banners thanks to the hard work of Choux, we started off as part of a group of blogs only to become our own thing and we’ve lost a lot of our authors.

Choux and I are the only ones who post with regularity and real life and ill health have kept me from posting too frequently of late.

But we are still here, still blogging away and you are still visiting so we must be doing something right ne?

As much as the blog has evolved I think we’ve also evolved as bloggers. In the beginning I was all gung ho on episodic blogging and I quickly realized, that unless you’re into a show heart and soul its really hard to find the energy to write about it week in week out.

So nowadays I’m a lot more laid back (maybe a little too laid back considering my post count of late) but when I do post, its because I really feel passionate about the subject matter instead of feeling obligated to put something out there because I really should just put something up. So the post count may have gone down but the passion remains the same.

We’d like to continue to get evolve and get better and better, it would be nice to reach a million hits after all πŸ™‚
So feel free to contact us and let us know what you would like to see more of, or just what it is exactly you enjoy about the site. Feedback can only help us improve, so don’t hold back everyone.

Thank you again and see you at a million!

ばんざーい!ヽ(β–½οΏ£γ€€)δΉ‚(γ€€οΏ£β–½)οΎ‰ ばんざーい!

I’ll hand you over to Choux now, since I know she’d also like to say a few words.

Choux: Ah, this has been a long journey, hasn’t it? I look back at the stuff I used to do and am absolutely shocked (especially at how much stuff I used to do on anime, which I REALLY should focus more). Like sakura, I’m just not good with regular blogging, so I guess it’s good that we’re on the same wavelength?

Well, Sakura has basically said all there is to say, so let me just give you guys some stats:

Our most popular post is the Fall Season 2008 Preview, followed byΒ  MECHA SERIES REVIEW, InuYasha Chapter 558, naruto 422 – Kakashi vs Pein, Naruto Chapter 413 – Sasuke gets owned!, fullmetal alchemist 2 : brotherhood, and Air gear: the required training arc.Which is to be expected, since they’re about shounen series (which is kinda ironic considering we’re all girls, isn’t it?)

Out top referrer is animenano(with around 10,000 hits), followed by the the animeblogger antenna (a little over 6000 hits)Β  and google reader. Though of course, other blogs have introduced quite a bit of traffic, with oihayaku leading the way, followed by simplicity, celestialkitsune, akibahiroi, and hunting the elusive.

Our top 3 most clicked links are to 2 gundam wallpapers and a pandora hearts wallpaper (I’m sorry to all the wonderful bloggers out there, but we’re just not good at getting people to click links…)

The top 5 search terms are Skip beat (girl power!), hachibi (which is just odd), Umineko (I’m actually installing chiru right this second), toradora (aww…), and junjou romantica (which is odd because we never really wrote about that series). I really wanted to get a list of the oddest searches that linked to us, but wordpress is being stingy about the lists and won’t let me see them…

So thanks to everyone who has visited this site~ Keep on coming, and remember, I’m sending you all cake telepathically (I’m still not that good at it though, so it might take a while, and it might not work, but CAKE IS COMING!) ~\(≧▽≦)/~

  1. CONGRATULATIONS!

You started off with a group of authors and lost most?

Hmm, I always wanted to try blogging but was hesitant to create my own. If you would allow me, I would love to join this circle.

    • Yeah we started off as part of a girls round robin of blogs.

So then we were kind of out there on our own. Lelangir still posts from time to time but other than that its pretty much just Choux and I.

I’ll get with her over email and discuss adding you or why don’t you click on contact us and let us know what it is you’re interested in blogging and we can go from there πŸ™‚

  2. “Please excuse the hastily scribbled thank you at the top of the picture, its hard to get kanji to look right when you’re using a mouse”

Can’t you just use the ‘text’ tool for it? So you wouldn’t struggle?

    • I would, except the text tool in GIMP really sucks.

If I hadn’t just gotten out of the ER I probably would have gone on hubby’s computer and used photoshop and the pen and tablet.

Much easier to make pretty strokes with the pen.

  3. umm… what u wrote isn’t kanji…

my learned kanji back in elementary and middle school before coming to America, and that is NOT kanji…

    it’s probably kana.

    • As long as it says thank you I guess … It was late when I started messing around with it and I’d just spent six hours in the ER.

I edited a correction I was actually writing in hirigana.

  4. Hmm I guess it is kind of funny most of hits come from shounen series considering we are girls.

I do read a lot of shoujo I just don’t post much about it, maybe I should?

I could certainly write about Kamisama Hajimemashita, its so damned cute and I adore Tomoe, though I wish the manga-ka would damn well finish Akuma to dolce. Ooh and I found a new one the other day Omamori no kamisama, which looks like it has the potential to become something I’ll read with regularity.

I’m enjoying Aozora Yell, though I don’t like it half as much as I did Koukou Debut. Shiawase kissa sanchoume comes out so infrequently but is way cute!

Although one of the mangas I currently really enjoy is another shounen, maybe its because Nurarihyon no Mago is all about youkai.

For some reason I’m drawn to mangas/anime with youkai in them.

Hmm maybe I should just do a post on my current interests…

  5. Congratulations you guys! (Woo~ I contributed traffic~ I’m always happy to know that any linking I do is for a good cause!)

Anyway, seems like you two have blogging figured out pretty well. Posting when you can and only about what you want to and still getting a good reward like half a million hits! I’m sure that number will only continue to grow as you two continue blogging in the future as well! ^^

  6. Well, hiragana are derived from simplified versions of kanji, after all. In fact, IIRC, traditionally — if we go *way* back — they were said to be . . . writing simplified enough for women to use.

    (Please don’t disembowel the messenger! . . . :] . . .)

  7. Congrats! I always find my mouse gravitating toward your blog in my feed reader, probably because of your constant stream of easy-to-read posts. I think you guys are the only “impressions” bloggers I still read, and I mean that as a complement. Here’s to another 500k~!

  8. Congratulations on 500K hits! πŸ˜€

Indeed, you are doing many things right – it is fun to read your blog πŸ™‚

Yes, less frequent, but more passionate posting ftw! πŸ™‚

Things I especially enjoy are original works, such as paintings by Choux and Sakura, and all those numerous photoshoots of Sakura’s models πŸ™‚ I also like how Choux sometimes highlights work of interesting artists, various songs, and MADs. “Draw with Me” was an excellent find πŸ™‚ Also I enjoy Sakura’s coverage of anime and manga – you write best captions ever! πŸ˜€
