I am getting suspiciously Eva-like vibes…Of course, I don’t mean “oh no, homoerotic overtones”, I mean “oh no, the white haired pretty boy is going to die”. No one who’s so connected to an art piece has ever had a really happy ending, especially since this is right after Argentine.
And this is SO misleading out of context. Oh, this is going to be fun while it lasts.

Well well well, Fate/Extra certainly seems interesting, although I don’t think like Arcuid’s master… I can’t see how they’re on the same wavelength at all.
It would have benn interesting to see who Shiki would be paired up with, but I don’t think she’s part of the servant system. Too bad.
So, Pixiv is hosting an event as a joint colab with some other people to promote Black Rock shooter. Non-professional members of Pixiv (that is, one that isn’t working for a company, doujin circles don’t count) are invited to make Black Rock shooter in hopes of being published in (yet another) BRS book, along with other prizes like figurines and books, etc etc.
Having obtained a Pixiv account some time ago, I thought that I should enter the contest too, for fun and the prizes. That is, until I realized I do not have time to actually finish what I want to draw. I literally have 2 days where I can actually draw for an extended period of time, one of which is today. It’s times like this that I realize how much of a pain it is to be an overachieving Asian with parents who place too much emphasis on “family time”. Another thing is that I’m not sure if I can actually get anywhere. I mean, I like the top image, but the whole mirror thing is so cliched. As for the hug one, I have no idea what to do for the background…
Anyway, no matter how I end up doing, I am glad that there is such a contest, because it is encouraging the creation of a tone of BRS art. Most of them are, well, pretty awful, and a lot of them just aren’t interesting due to the sheer volume of BRS art out there. BUT, there are some that just stand out like nothing else. My favorite entry happens to be the above image, by 恨み, who is an incredibly talented Chinese artist (I seem to have a knack for finding good Chinese artists lately). If he ends up not winning anything, I’m flying over to Japan and punching the judges in the face.

For some reason, all of his songs are incredibly catchy, plus they say something interesting about humans and the nature of love.
And on top of that, he’s one of the few NND composers who actually sings. Granted, the above video was originally composed by someone else, but he arranged it and sang half the vocals. And you know what, I am definitely NOT the first fangirl to squeal over it~
I mean, yeah, it’s a pretty and very well animated slap in the face, but still…
One thing that bugged me was how they tried to replicate a lot of scenes and places from the original video. This is an anime, no matter how much effort they put into 1 frame, it’s never going to be as good as Huke’s original drawings. So why bother throwing in scenes that people have already seen at a lower quality without making it flow smoothly? I don’t get it.
I also have complaints about the story. Why have Black Gold Saw fight in the first scene without explanation, then not have the character show up for the rest of the OVA? I mean, it’s hinting at another OVA coming along but that’s a really bad excuse. Also, it was supposed to be Death Master who gave BRS the scars, not BGS. How are they going to write this in? A lot of stuff feels shallow/cheesy, and the 2 worlds doesn’t exactly flow smoothly together.
Where’s my downer ending? Where’s my tear jerker? Where’s the scene where Yomi dies? Where’s Hatsune Miku? WHERE’S THE NEXT OVA?
Tl;dr: Entertaining. I feel cheated. Can’t wait for the next OVA.
P.S.: Pixiv is holding a contest for Black Rock shooter. Factoring in the amount of love I have for BRS and the fact that I have to go somewhere on the weekend, I’m not sure if I want to enter… Sigh…

Hatsune miku fanart seems to be split into 2 groups: those with blue hair and those with green hair. The last time I checked, there are 200 miku pictures tagged with “green hair” and 200 tagged with “blue hair” on danbooru. As far as I can tell, fanart in other places seem to be pretty evenly split too.
Even the official art/merchandise seems to be split in opinion. Kei’s renditions vary between shades, and the same goes for figurines.
