A Single Sakura Petal
Vocals: riya
Lyrics: Key
Composition: Maeda Jun
Arrangement: Takumaru
Adapted from original BGM track “Haruka na Toshitsuki”

One day I walked with you on this slope where the sakura blooms
You were a person who was like a single flower petal

Inside of my dreams, I stood at this place when I chased after you
You said, “Please live without regrets”

I’ll name the story
That starts from there ‘life’
We struggled, grieved, lost things
Walking on our road

‘I’ll be by your side forever,’ that day when I vowed so
Becomes faraway; the wind blows and winter comes about

This me knew that I wanted to give you warmth
If I look back, there are distant years

Spring comes, and surrounded in the soft fragrance
A single flower flutters, looking down upon me

Now I’m still ascending this slope where the sakura blooms

Thank you to Atashi for the lyrics!

The story behind this post is that I was clearing my hard drive for the summer season, and then noticed an old clannad song that I haven’t heard in forever. Riya+Clannad+Jun maeda+awesome guitare part near the end=tears and awesomeness. I’ll admit that I cryed listening to this song, and you will too, if you know what Clannad is all about.

Clannad FV: Cleared! But who cares about that?

moe 67230 sampleAfter years, YEARS of waiting due to the Chinese translation team going on a very long hiatus, I’ve finally completed Clannad. To those who don’t care, skip the rest of this paragraph. To those who are wondering at how long it was: it was 40% finished in August of 2005, 60% finished in December of 2005, finished (aside from Kotomi’s path and the after story) in October of 2006, with an announcement of a completed patch soon after. However, afterward, Clannad got a voice patch, and the team started inserting the text all over again, this time, very, VERY slowly. Another team finished Kotomi and the After Story, WITH voices, and released it as a separate patch. A patch for the entirety of Clanand was released a few months ago, but it wasn’t official, nor was it compatible with the Full Voice version (which is the one that I have). A COMPLETELY FINISHED patch was finished only this March, which is really a long, long journey (please tell me that someone got this joke).

Now, I’ve watched the anime already, I’ve seen the Kyoani magic at work, laughed a lot, and cried a lot, so why play the game?

“I love you, so please don’t be so kind of me…”

Why I like Kyou but not ushio

(And why I don’t want to watch Sayonara Zetsubu Sensei and Pani poni dash.)

vlcsnap-78506

Everyone has preferences, and I happen to have certain ones reserved for girls. They do apply to characters in general, but since too many male characters are just clones of each other I usually don’t usually use these preferences on them (seriously, as a girl I can’t even think of a male character who left a lasting impression on me in terms of personality).

Preference #1? The ablilty to kick ass.

The progression of Clannad AS

vlcsnap-191991Let’s face it, the pacing of Clannad is really slow right now. After 23 minutes worth of episode 17, I felt like they’ve given me 2 minutes worth of information. Tomoya has changed, Ushio doesn’t have a relationship with her father, and the Furukawas are still kind, caring people.

So?

Right now, I feel like they’ve run out of material for the next 7 episodes and is now trying to spend time by showing excessively long scenes of Ushio and her deformed arms. She’s cute and all but her arms are hideously looking and she reminds me of Fuuko, I really have no interest in when she wants to go to the washroom or whether she likes fried rice or not. Yes, there’s a need to develop the relationship between Ushio and Tomoya, but why can’t be done in any other way? Or better yet, a faster way?

That’s what I thought an episode ago, but boy has my mind changed… Continue reading

I’m alive!

And I’m not talking about the ending to Kuroshitsuji either. Now that my provincials are over all I have to worry about is my language credits, which has the test in 2 weeks. That means I have a bit more time to catch up on things (like the 5th Kara no kyoukai movie and Clannad).

img_2663To accompany me is 6 pounds worth of Chinese candy (which has the potential to be  better than western candy but sadly has weird things like ginger chews and preserved lemon).

Be prepared for artbook reviews, stuff about c75, some stuff about Clannad, fangirling over 07th expansion, and jokes about sunrise.

I’m looking forward to it.

Clannad after story 11: Throw it away!

vlcsnap-152574

Throw away your pride and forget about work! You’re going to regret not spending time with her later! Look at her! She was waiting with corn! How can you do that? That’s stupid!

1 sentence summary: Tomoya’s getting used to his job, but it’s taking away the time that he has with Nagisa.

Grr.

Yeah, yeah, developpement and growing up, I know, but I still hate it.

Clannad after story 8: Aww…

vlcsnap-201805Seriously, that’s what I was doing all episode: going “awww…” at everything. The NagisaxTomoya pairing used to be cute, but now they are downright adorable with powered sugar thrown over the whole thing. Kyoani moved the quality up another notch, and the episode looks absolutely stunning, not to mention the fact that it was very moving (I’m not the only who felt teary-eyed at the end of the episode, am I?)

1 sentence summary: Nagisa gets sick and ends up have to stay behind for yet ANOTHER year while Tomoya graduates.
